Manchester United have moving swiftly to secure the signing of the highly rated 23-year-old Dutch defender Alexander Buttner. The 23-year-old defender has signed a five-year contract with the club after securing his move to Old Trafford. It is thought that Manchester United have secure his signature after a transfer fee of £ 4.5 million was exchanged with the Vitesse. He has been linked with a move to some of the bigger clubs like Ajax and Feyenoord, but he has decided to straightaway move to the Premier league with one of the biggest clubs in the world – Manchester United.
It has been a frustrating summer for the Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson, who has seen a number of this transfer targets join other clubs due to the failure of the club to compete when it comes to the transfer fee and the wages. However, he recently completed the signing of the Arsenal striker Robin van Persie for around £ 24 million, while the Dutchman is reportedly on wages of around £ 250,000 a week. Alexander Buttner has become the next major signing at Old Trafford. He is expected to provide competition to Patrice Evra for the left back position.
“Alexander is one of the best young left-backs in Europe and we’re delighted to sign him. He’s someone we’ve been watching for a while now. He gives us some really exciting options in that position,” said the Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson after announcing the signing of the 23-year-old. “Joining Manchester United is one of the best days of my life. It’s a team I have admired for many years now and I can’t wait to join my teammates and play my part in helping the club be successful,” said the player on the official website of the club.
