NO RETURN EXPECTED

Manchester United striker Federico Macheda has said that he does not expect to return to Old Trafford at the end of the season. He is currently on loan at German club Stuttgart, and he has done extremely well. He has spent the last few seasons on loan at various clubs like Sampdoria and QPR, but none have been fruitful due to various reasons. It has been widely thought that this would be his final chance to impress Sir Alex Ferguson. Even though he has done rather well at Stuttgart, United have been linked with several high profile names like Robert Lewandowski and Radamel Falcao.

Macheda, whose contract runs out in the next summer, has said that he does not expect to remain a Manchester United player at the end of the season. Macheda joined the Red Devils back in 2007 as a 16-year-old. Due to the expected competition from the new high profile names, Macheda does not expect regular first-team opportunities at Old Trafford. Even the likes of Javier Hernandez and Wayne Rooney have been linked with a move away from the club in recent months. The 21-year-old has said that he is adapting to life in Stuttgart, but he is extremely happy at the German club.

“After Manchester it has been a struggle. I have had injuries and loan spells and they haven’t really worked. But I am adapting now here at Stuttgart. That takes time. The important thing now is to find my place; get some playing time and develop as a player. Manchester United was more difficult than any club in the world because of the talent of the players there and because of the attention and the pressure. It wouldn’t make sense to go back and do what I have done for the last two years,” said Macheda.
