QPR manager Mark Hughes has come under fire of late. Despite getting a huge slice of transfer money in the January transfer window, results have not improved under the former Manchester City manager.
As a result, there have been questions regarding his ability to handle the pressure that comes with spending a lot of money. A number of new players have arrived at Loftus Road in the January transfer window including strikers like Bobby Zamora and Djibril Cisse. They also add to the list of strikers already present at the club including the on loan Manchester United star Federico Macheda.
Federico Macheda has been getting a few opportunities to play in the Premier league this season. However, he will be up against the experience of both Djibril Cisse and Bobby Zamora when it comes to being selected for the Premier league matches from here on in. Federico Macheda would have been expecting regular first-team opportunities at QPR when he arrived at Loftus Road, but the situation has become totally different following the arrival of Mark Hughes and his ability to spend a lot of money. Tony Fernandes – the QPR chairman – promised significant transfer funds for the former Fulham and Manchester City manager. It resulted in the arrival of Cisse and Bobby Zamora.
However, Federico Macheda need not worry about the first-team opportunities he is going to get at QPR over the course of the season because manager Mark Hughes has admitted that he is still getting to know his team much better. “I am still getting a real understanding of what I have to work with. It’s not been easy because coming in January is a bit different to my previous job, where I was there from the start of the season,” Mark Hughes said when asked about the lack of results so far.
