Federico Macheda could never really find a way to cement his place into Manchester United’s first team as he was generally being transferred out of Old Trafford and joined other clubs on loan deals.
Sampdoria, QPR, Stuttgart, Doncaster Rovers and Birmingham City are all of the clubs that Macheda spent time playing on a series of loan deals and even when the Italian youngster did manage on making his return to Manchester United; he had to settle with a place on the sidelines of the team with other players being chosen.
This ultimately led to Macheda having to be released by Manchester United and Cardiff City took the opportunity on signing the Italian youngster on a permanent and free transfer. The 22 year old striker expressed his joy about joining his new club and having to work once more with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Macheda said: “Last season I had a good spell on loan at Birmingham City, but this is a new chapter of my career now and I can’t wait to get started and show everyone who I am. Knowing Ole, he wants to get back into the Premier League as soon as possible and the recent signings show that. I’m here for the same reason. I feel that this is a great team and if we can have a good season and work hard then we can go straight back up.”
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is hoping that Macheda will help Cardiff City and return to the Premier League as they have been relegating after finishing the season at the bottom of the English League and now have to battle in the Championship League.
