RomeluLukaku is gunning to break a Manchester United record when they host Leicester City on Saturday.
The Belgium international was a proven goalscorer in the Premier League but naysayers had a field day when he signed for Man United. So far, it has been a very impressive ride as the former Toffees striker bangs in the goals.
Lukaku has gone the way of Louis Saha, Federico Macheda, Anthony Martial and Zlatan Ibrahimovic by netting in his first two Premier League games for Manchester United. He could go further to become the first to score in three league games for the club with rich history.
Lukaku scored on his debut against West Ham United and he was on target when the Red Devils hammered The Swans 4-0, as their first game. The forward had scored in pre-season games and in the UEFA Super Cup match against Real Madrid, but there were some doubts about the tally he would hit at United this term.
The player has shown so far that he can go beyond the 20 goal haul like he did for Everton last term. Though Ibrahimovic is set to return in the second half of the season, Lukaku remains the star man for now.
Against The Foxes, it would not be easy as the Irons and the Whites, but United are expected to prevail at the end. Leicester almost defeated Arsenal but Arsene Wenger’s men found a way through to claim all three points in the thrilling season opener. Craig Shakespeare’s boys defeated new boys Brighton & Hove Albion2-0 but would be seeking at best a draw against the high scoring Jose Mourinho side. This can be difficult for United.
The £75 million signing should find a way through if he wants to break the age-long record at Old Trafford.
