Cardiff City have been on a roll in recent weeks. The team has suffered just one defeat in the last seven matches.
After a 1-0 defeat against Wolverhampton Wanderers threatened to disrupt the form once again, the team returned to winning ways by managing a 3-1 win over Rotherham United. Cardiff were clinical in the match with players like Federico Macheda getting on the scoresheet.Macheda has been struggling for form recently and this goal cannot have come at a much better time. He has not scored in the last 11 matches, while this was also his first goal of 2015.
It has helped Cardiff move 13 points clear of relegation zone. This should be more than enough to ensure that the Wales team do not suffer a second consecutive relegation. Russell Slade has been working extremely hard in the last month to motivate his team and it seems that his efforts are starting to pay off. The manager, who was appointed midway through the season, says that he is happy with the ruthlessness shown by his players.
Cardiff have already ruled out the possibility of getting into the play-offs from this position, but there is a glimmer of hope remaining. The bluebirds take on Charlton Athletic next week hoping to continue the rise up the table.
“We are very pleased with the result. We got the ball down, created the opportunities and, most importantly, we took them.If you look at the chances and opportunities we had I thought it was a really good away performance. We made the right decisions. We were ruthless in the final third particularly in the first-half. It’s a good thing moving forward. We’d freshened the team up. It was a conscious decision to bring fresh legs in,” said Slade. Écuélé Manga and McAleny scored the other goals.
