Turkish club Besiktas have emerged as the surprise destination for Manchester United striker Federico Macheda, who has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford this summer. The Italian has grown frustrated about life at Old Trafford after not being given the right amount of first-team opportunities. He has been sent out on loan to various clubs in the last few seasons, but he has been extremely unlucky when it comes to loan deals as acknowledged by the manager Sir Alex Ferguson. However, the Scot is prepared to give Federico Macheda one final chance to establish himself in the Manchester United first-team.
He has been linked with a move to Portugal on a loan deal till the end of the season, but it has emerged in the last couple of days that Turkish club Besiktas has come out as favourites to secure his signature. Due to the fact that Besiktas have come under a lot of pressure to sell a number of top players due to the high debts, they are expected to replace their first-team players with a number of loan signings. As a result, Federico Macheda is expected to get a number of chances to play in the first team. The 20-year-old striker has been at Manchester United since 2007.
He made his debut for the club in the most impressive fashion by scoring against Aston Villa in 2009. However, he has been unable to replicate the same since then and he has struggled with a lot of injury problems as well. Federico Macheda has spent the last two seasons on loan at Sampdoria and QPR, but neither loan spells have proved to be beneficial for the player or for the club due to various reasons. Besiktas have recently completed the signing of Arsenal youngster Oğuzhan Özyakup.
