Federico Macheda was touted for big things when he broke through at Premier League giants Manchester United under legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson but he has not been able to achieve greatness as it was predicted by Ferguson and some other Manchester United stakeholders when he burst onto the scene as a teenager at Old Trafford in April 2009. As a matter of fact, the Italian striker ensured a nomadic career before finally settling at Panathinaikos in the Greek Super League.
Federico Macheda played for many clubs in England and Italy before finding a home in the Greek Super League with Panathinaikos. He signed a three-year contract until 2021 when he joined the Greek club in 2018.Macheda netted 11 times in all competitions in his first season in Greece including 10 goals in the league. His second season at the club ended with him equalling his personal best of 13 goals in all competitions. Since moving to Panathinaikos, Federico Macheda has scored 33 goals for the club in 90 appearances in the league. The club moved to tie him down to a new contract towards the end of last year. His new deal doesn’t run out until the summer of 2023.
