AC Milan striker Fernando Torres, who is on loan from Chelsea for the next two years, scored on his debut for his new team as he hopes to finally put behind the miserable spell at West London. The striker made his debut against Empoli after having missed out on the chance to start against Parma due to knee injury. He took more than 15 matches to score his first goal for Chelsea, but it did not take long for the former Liverpool striker to find the back of the net in his new Milan shirt. The forward score just two minutes before half-time break to pull one goal back for Milan after they conceded twice within the opening 20 minutes.
Honda, who has been impressive form at the start of the season, scored the equaliser in the second half, but Milan were unable to push on and get the victory. As a result, they have failed to win for the second consecutive match. Milan came into the encounter after a 1-0 defeat against Juventus in which Carlos Tevez scored the only goal. The forward said that he was happy to score on his debut, but he was also equally disappointed at the fact that Milan were unable to get three points. Filippo Inzaghi will be extremely delighted with the goal scoring debut of Torres.
“I am happy for the goal, but I would gladly exchange it for three points. The important thing for a forward is that the side creates chances to score goals. The rest doesn’t count much. We come away from Empoli disappointed, but we reacted well,” said Torres. Milan will be looking to return to winning ways as soon as possible. The two matches without a victory is already threatening to destroy any hopes of the league title.
