Manchester United have allowed striker Federico Macheda to rejoin Doncaster Rovers on a loan deal till the end of December. The striker recently joined the Championship outfit on a month-long loan deal, but it was cut short due to a hamstring injury. This was one of the several loan spells that did not go according to plan for the Italian, who made his debut for United as a teenager against Aston Villa in 2009. He has so far made 36 appearances for the club, but has managed just five goals. He is out of contract in the summer and is widely expected to leave United on a permanent basis.

Macheda has been speaking about a possible return to Italy, while he has stated that he wants to be playing regular football until then. The striker has been unable to get into the first-team. The second loan move to Doncaster may actually favour the striker since he did well in the few matches that he played for the club. He managed three goals in just five matches before suffering a hamstring injury. Macheda has revealed that have been a few clubs interested in his services, but he chose to join Doncaster because the Championship outfit wanted him more than anybody else.

“There were a few other clubs that wanted me but I wanted to come back here. The results haven’t been great lately so I’m looking forward to helping them do better because I think it’s a good team. I’m just concentrating on doing well for the next six weeks and then we will see what happens after that,” said the 22-year-old. He has also ruled out looking too far into his future because he is only thinking about the next six weeks with Doncaster.

Doncaster have a home match against promotion challengers QPR on Saturday.
