The Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed is at he hopes that the youngster Federico Macheda does not experience the disappointment of the previous loan moves this time around. The Italian striker recently sealed a season long loan deal to the German club Stuttgart after struggling to get first team opportunities at Manchester United. The arrival of Robin van Persie made it extremely difficult for Macheda to get game time even in the League Cup. The striker had been speaking about the possibility of moving on a loan deal in January, and it finally materialised in the form of a move to Germany.
This is the first time the striker will be playing in German football. He had to extremely poor loan spells at Sampdoria and QPR where he played very little football after a change in management immediately upon his arrival. He broke into the Manchester United first team at the age of 17, but has played very little football for the Red Devils since then. Ferguson has said that he hopes that his current loan spell will turn out to be beneficial for the player after he has experienced his fair share of bad luck. It is widely thought that this would be the final chance for Macheda to impress Ferguson.
“I pray for the boy. I must say with his experience he got at Sampdoria as they sacked the coach when he’d been there a week. The new coach came in and didn’t play him. So that was four or five months lost. The same thing happened when he went to QPR last season. They sacked the coach and Mark Hughes came in. Of course, Mark had his own ideas about the front players and, once again, for four months, he doesn’t play,” said Ferguson.
